A full-day's discovery of Batroun
  • Stroll through the tight alleyways of the town which take you to the little town squares surrounded by almost medieval houses. You will come across the Maronite church of Saint Stephan and the Greek-Orthodox church of Saint George with its lovely collection of icons. On the coast you might cross the church of Saint Mary of the Sea, one of the oldest churches from Crusader times, boating a magnificent view of the Phoenician walls and its ancient arcades. You must pass by Magui, an excellent small family restaurant by the sea with reasonable prices. Ask for Batroun's specialty, the Fish Kibbeh (kebbet samak).
  • The little beach of Batroun, dotted with age-old white houses listed as heritage monuments in the official list of the country's historic sites, is truly worth a visit. Take a swim here in the clean water or enjoy a boat ride by the Phoenician wall to watch the sunset. In the evening pay homage to Batroun's nightlife by partying in the pubs and clubs of the town, which transforms itself into a fiesta night. Don't miss the modern restaurants that have sprouted up in restored ancient buildings around the main square.
